Programme Delivery

I have over 25 years experience in successfully delivering digital programmes and projects. I have turned around some failing high-value programmes, taking quick and effective action where required.

My approach centres on getting teams into the delivery phase as quickly as possible.

Delivery requires the correct resource and I normally start any engagement with a swift review and written recommendations (This will sometimes be a very swift process to avoid burning any more precious time!).

I've added some examples of the work I've lead below:

Programme Remediation (UK Hospital)

A major UK teaching hospital needed to replace all of it's end-user IT devices to enable a new electronic patient record system. A year-long programme had burned through its first six months without any progress.

I was parachuted in to lead the team of 60 that was about to fail, potentially with a huge impact on a £100m programme.

After an initial review I determined that the team currently in post needed some alteration, but that at its core was a team capable of recovery.

I put in place some tactical actions designed to avoid falling any further behind while I addressed the longer term approach. Within 8 weeks the programme had moved out of escalation and eventually delivered on schedule.

Mobile Working Transformation (City Law Firm)

A large City-based Legal firm were undertaking an office move upon the expiry of their Lease. At the same time they made the decision to move their company workstyle to a mobile, peripatetic model. This entailed all staff being moved onto laptop hardware, the new office being provisioned with hot desk facilities throughout, high availability connectivity and conference facilities and last but not least, the provision of a significantly improved datacentre storage facility.

I lead the team undertaking all of the work on behalf of the contracted IT firm responsible, with a non-negotiable hard stop caused by the lease expiry. The programme used an Agile approach and was regarded as a major success, later being used in the IT firm's publicity as an good example of their work.

Outsource Transformation

A Public Sector body was dissatisfied with it's IT Outsource provider. I was retained to manage the Tender, Bid, Negotiation, Selection and Transition process over to the new supplier.

This was a role requiring both tenacity and diplomacy to change and improve the service provided over an 18-month period by removing the non-performing firm and replacing them with another provider.

The programme delivered on time and within budget
